The Makeup Show 2019

I have returned from The Makeup Show with some great goodies this year.

The Makeup Show is a beauty lover’s dream. You can attend this show if you are an industry professional, or.. if you are lucky enough be taken as a guest of the pro (Thanks Kerstin)!

The Makeup Show is the biggest professional-only beauty event in the U.S. This is quite the experience. You are able to stock your kit (or personal stash like me) with makeup at a fraction of the cost of regular retail. There are opportunities for education, trying new products, watching live demos, and meeting industry influencers/leaders.

My day started at 5 a.m. I can’t get up this early for work, but the thought of makeup got me out of bed no problem LOL. We took the 7:03 a.m. train to NYC from Hamilton. We started our morning with Starbucks. There is a two-story Starbucks right next to Penn Station. We sat on the second floor. Side story…. (which I think is hilarious). I somehow pulled my hoop earring out of my ear and it went flying over the railing, falling to the first floor.. almost hitting a person waiting in line.

Okay, back to The Makeup Show. It’s important to get to the show early to avoid the lines. I made a list beforehand to help navigate through the booths. I had to have some self control this year. It is very easy to rack up that credit card. The discounts range from approximately 20%-50% off, with most brands averaging 30-40% off. It really depends on the vendor and product.

You do have to purchase tickets for the event, but by the time you buy 2-3 products you already recoup that.

Check out the products below that I took home this year, as well as some photos from Cinco de Mayo..

After the show…

Following The Makeup Show, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Kahlo in NYC. The meal was delish. We were even treated to a Mariachi band performance and some free tequila shots! This was a swanky Mexican restaurant with a lot of color and texture. The service was great; I loved the artwork and fresh roses celebrating Frida Kahlo.

We had elote (corn) with truffle lime aioli, guac, margs. I had a trio of empanadas for my main. It was an elevated Mexican meal for sure.
